Corrections Policy

Santanero Media Group, LLC. d.b.a. Santanero Media Group, LLC, The Santanero and KSNG-DB “Santanero Radio”

1. Overview

Santanero Media Group, LLC ("Santanero Media Group," "we," "our," or "us") owns and operates The Santanero, KSNG-DB "Santanero Radio," Santanero.org, and related media properties.

Unless otherwise stated, this policy applies to all publications, broadcasts, websites, newsletters, podcasts, social media accounts, and other media properties owned or operated by Santanero Media Group, LLC.

Accuracy is fundamental to our mission of serving the community. We strive to publish information that is fair, factual, properly sourced, and presented in appropriate context.

When errors occur, we are committed to reviewing concerns promptly and correcting significant inaccuracies in a transparent and responsible manner.


2. Reporting an Error

Readers, listeners, contributors, sources, public officials, organizations, and community members who believe published content contains a factual error, omission, misleading statement, or inaccuracy are encouraged to contact us.

Please include, when available:

  • The article title, program name, social media post, newsletter, or URL;
  • A description of the concern;
  • Supporting documentation, sources, or evidence;
  • Contact information for follow-up.

or via Direct Message on our Instagram @thesantanero.


3. Review Process

We review correction requests submitted in good faith.

Submission of a correction request does not guarantee that a correction, clarification, update, editor's note, or retraction will be issued.

Our review may include:

  • Verification of facts;
  • Review of source materials;
  • Consultation with contributors or reporters;
  • Review of supporting documents;
  • Additional reporting or research;
  • Consultation with subject matter experts when appropriate.

Editorial decisions regarding corrections remain solely within our discretion.


4. Corrections

A correction may be issued when published content contains a factual error.

Examples may include:

  • Incorrect names;
  • Incorrect dates;
  • Incorrect locations;
  • Incorrect quotations;
  • Incorrect statistics;
  • Incorrect descriptions;
  • Misstated facts.

Significant factual corrections will generally be disclosed within the affected content whenever practical.


5. Clarifications

A clarification may be issued when information is substantially accurate but may reasonably be misunderstood because of wording, context, presentation, or omission.

Clarifications may be added to articles, newsletters, social media posts, broadcasts, podcasts, or other published content.


6. Updates

An update may be issued when new information becomes available after publication.

Examples may include:

  • Election results;
  • Government decisions;
  • Court rulings;
  • Public statements;
  • Developing news events.

An update does not necessarily indicate an error in the original reporting.


7. Editor's Notes

An editor's note may be added when additional context, disclosures, explanations, or important information would assist readers or listeners in understanding published content or subsequent editorial actions.

Editor's notes may accompany corrections, clarifications, updates, or other editorial actions when appropriate.


8. Retractions

In extraordinary circumstances, content may be retracted when:

  • It contains substantial inaccuracies that cannot reasonably be corrected;
  • It was published in error;
  • It relies upon materially false information;
  • Serious violations of editorial standards have occurred; or
  • Removal is otherwise warranted by legal or ethical considerations.

Retractions are rare and may be accompanied by an editor's note explaining the reason for the action.


9. Serious Violations

Knowingly fabricated information, plagiarism, falsification of sources, deceptive reporting practices, manipulated evidence, or other serious violations of editorial standards may result in:

  • Removal of content;
  • Retraction;
  • Publication of corrective notices;
  • Termination of contributor relationships;
  • Refusal of future submissions; or
  • Other corrective actions deemed appropriate.

10. Corrections Across Platforms

Corrections involving newsletters, broadcasts, podcasts, social media posts, audio programming, or other non-article content may be addressed through:

  • Corrected posts;
  • Follow-up notices;
  • Pinned statements;
  • Editor's notes;
  • Updated broadcasts;
  • Updated newsletters; or
  • Other reasonable methods appropriate to the platform.

The method of correction may vary depending on the nature of the content and the circumstances involved.


11. Editorial Independence

Correction decisions are made solely by Santanero Media Group's editorial staff.

Advertisers, sponsors, donors, political organizations, government agencies, businesses, advocacy groups, public officials, or other outside interests do not determine whether corrections are issued.

Editorial accountability remains independent of commercial, political, financial, or external influence.
